HOLD ON TIGHT!
It’s an exciting time to be a part of SCC Kids! Whether you are the youngest of our crew or are beginning the “tween” phase, we have new things in store for you this spring!
At SCC Kids we want to partner with parents at whatever phase your child or children are in. There are several ways in which we try to accomplish this. First, the PARENT CUE. At the beginning of each month, when you pick up your kids, you should receive a Parent Cue that has all the details of what we will be learning each week. It also has our monthly memory verse as well as ways that you can connect with your child throughout the week.
Did you know that you can access this same Parent Cue via an app on your Apple or Android device? It is $1.99, and it is well worth it! This app has videos, activities, discussion questions and it automatically updates along with each week’s Bible Story. It works for our preschool kids as well as our elementary kids.
We live in a time where life happens and we don’t always make it to church. Although we miss seeing those kids each week, we understand and want to partner with you and your family! If you are out of town or have a game or sickness comes on suddenly, you can always be a part of what we do by logging onto https://studio252.tv/ . Sunday mornings at 11am our 252 Basics Partners go “Live” with a host and storyteller who are giving the same message that we do in our large group. Parents, you can sign up for free to this website and have access to even more activities to reinforce at home throughout the week.
This month we launch our ALL NEW Curriculum for our Launchpad (infants-2 yr olds) and Quest (3’s & 4’s) classrooms. Our kids will love our all new schedule with worship songs, storytelling, games and crafts. This month our theme is SO BIG. We will be learning that JESUS LOVES ME!
In March we are going to build into our preschoolers a heart to love one another. We will begin the month talking about ways we can help people and then we will move on to sharing. After we talk about sharing we will wrap up the month with a lesson on forgiveness. We will look at the ultimate example of how we are to love and care for others as we focus on stories of Jesus in the New Testament. We are so excited about this new curriculum and we know that this will be a wonderful tool that will help you EMBRACE your littles ones in order for them to know God’s love and to meet God’s Family.
In Accelerate (K-5th) we are going to go behind the scenes and discover the Life App of LOVE. We define LOVE as choosing to treat others the way you want to be treated. In 1 John 4:10 the Bible says: “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” Jesus is the ultimate example of love. We are excited to continue our study by looking at our favorite stories through the New Testament.
In March we will be working through the theme of FORGIVENESS as we FIX IT UP! Forgiveness is a reflection of the character of God. Throughout scripture, we are continually reminded about the magnitude of God’s grace and forgiveness. We will define Forgiveness as this: deciding that someone who has wronged you doesn’t have to pay. OUCH! This one is going to hit home for sure!!!
Another way in which we will partner with parents is through our START HERE class. Decisions made by the age of 10 can begin a pattern for relationships and behavior that last a lifetime. We want to help you get the right start by investing in what happens in your home. All you have to do is START HERE.
Start Here is a unique 25-minute presentation where parents and kids learn what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus. It is designed to help parents and their children begin talking about faith, and it is also the first step in our baptism process for kids in K–5th grade.
Join us with your child for a fun Gospel presentation focused on John 3:16. Kids will be dismissed for a few minutes at the end of the presentation for a light snack, while parents are given some pointers on how to talk to their children about salvation and what their next step could be – baptism.
Our START HERE event will be Sunday, February 12th at 12:30 pm in Bardin Hall. Please contact Kara at 472-5047 or by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up or for more information.
Returning this March will be our Baby D Celebration! This special day is an opportunity for you to take some time at the beginning of your journey as a parent to really think about what will matter the most in the life of your child; to really talk together and decide what you value and what you can do today that will have the greatest impact on your child’s future. We as a church will have the opportunity to publicly encourage you and support you in this parenting journey. More information will be posted soon on registration.
Our Awana club is still going strong! Our clubbers are memorizing their verses, enjoying game time and bringing their friends. We love seeing these kids each week!
Below are some important dates of things coming up:
February 15th – Wear Red and/or pink and bring a picture of someone that you love.
