A while back I asked you all to pray for 2 people. My cousin’s son (Gage McVeigh) is home and recovering from getting hit by a drunk driver. He has a broken femur so we would appreciate continued prayers for healing!
The second was a friend of a friend who was electrocuted and then under water for 2-3 minutes. His story of recovery is below. It is nothing short of a miracle that he is still alive!
An update from Jonathan Kassebaum... ️️️
Thank you. Thank you to everyone who has and is continuing to support our family during this time. The prayers, love, and support have been overwhelming and so necessary for our family right now. Many of your have heard the story - for those who haven't, I thought I would throw a "quick" synopsis down. I don't remember Friday morning, so most of this has been pieced together from pictures I took with my phone and post-hospital investigating.
I was removing an electrical switch on the external wall of our house. There were 220 and 110 lines running into the box so I was separating them out and making sure I knew which was which before I connected them back up. At some point, I had connected the 110 hot wires (black) together but left the common wires (white) disconnected. At this point I must have turned the breaker back on - perhaps to verify one last time that I had the correct wires (I don't really know why I would have done this).
At this point, our new puppy, who had been jumping in and out of the pool all morning apparently jumped in the pool and started yipping. I kind of remember thinking she was getting bit by something so I went in to get her. After stepping in the pool down to my sternum, I threw the dog out and turned around to leave. I grabbed our stainless steel handrail to get out and I became immobilized. I don't remember pain, but I couldn't move and I couldn't yell more than a whisper. At this point Juliet had come out to see what the fuss was with the dog and I told her "I'm stuck, help me, turn off the breaker."
Eventually my muscles gave up and I released from the handrail, still being electrocuted and fell into the water. I was under water for about 2-3 minutes. Once the electricity was cut off, they brought me out of the pool and started CPR. We are still piecing together the timeline, but we believe that I was in V-Fib (no heartbeat) for about 8-12 minutes before the EMT shocked me and brought me back.
So...why was the pool electrified? When I connected the hot wires and turned the breaker on, the electricity wanted to find it's loop - but it couldn't so it went to find ground. This is where we don't exactly know what happened. The ground wire was connected to a GFCI (which didn't trip) but when we went to look at the box that housed the GFCI, the box was broken and the grounding wire disconnected. We recently had a tree removed near that area - so we think that possibly a month or two prior that ground had been disconnected and we never knew about it. We believe the electricity entered the pool through the pool light wiring (which was in the same box) and it was just waiting to find a ground.
The dog would have felt a little shock as the electricity in the pool was flowing through her, but she was never grounded. When I grabbed the handrail - I provided the ground from my feet in the water and my hand on the handrail.
What did I learn? To work outside with someone else - to have an assistant just in case something crazy happens someone else can be there to act. Second, I'm amazed Juliet called 911 and didn't try to call Melissa - so proud of her for that! CPR is legit and the guys that performed CPR on me had never done it before and kept my heart moving some sort of blood to my brain.
To not scare everyone about pools in general, the problem was the grounding wire coming loose. The pool was to code when it was installed, the pool light was installed correctly - everything was normal...But we had only one place of grounding. That's not how they are built now - stainless steel rails are grounded, the pool light niche is grounded. There are multiple places the electricity should have been able to go. We are replacing our stainless steel rails with Polymer rails and we are adding an additional ground to the pool light niche.
So...that's what happened...one more piece to our story - one that then required multiple miracles of God to enable me to be typing this right now. We are at about 5 right now, 5 people/things/events, 5 miracles, that needed to all happen in order for me to have survived this. If just one of them had not happened - I wouldn't be here. That is how "in control of this world" our God is!

Please pray for my mother, Ruby Dyal. She has lab work next week to check her kidney function. 6 weeks ago it was at 10; please pray that it has not dropped further, as she has been incapacitated for over a month due to fluid on her knee and worsening arthritis. She has not been able to cook or go to the grocery store, the only things she was still able to do, since the knee problem started. Please pray that her kidneys have not gotten worse, and pray that she can resume her former activities. Thanks, Kim Wiggins

Please join me in praying for Judy, who has very high blood pressure constantly, not only when she has more than the usual pain. We feel blessed, when her BP is 150. When her pain is worse, it can reach above 200.

I hurt my back 3 days ago though I'm not sure what caused all of my back pain. Chris and I are leaving for the North Carolina mountains this Friday (11/1). So please pray that my back is better by then as it will be a long drive and I'm not looking forward to attempting it with back pain. Also pray for travel mercies and a safe trip.
We praise God that we have found a new church home and that everyone is so welcoming and friendly to us. Thank you for your prayers.

I need to revise my last prayer request - Jonathan Kassebaum was not in a car accident - he was electrocuted in his pool and basically drowned. He is alive in ICU. They still need a lot of prayers!
My cousin’s son has surgery scheduled tomorrow. Prayers for the doctors and for peace for the family!

Prayers for 2 men in bad car accidents yesterday, please!
My cousin’s son, Gage McVeigh, is having surgery this morning. He is stable but had to be cut out of his car last night and will have a long road. They caught the man - was a hit and run and he was drunk.
Jonathan Kassebaum is a friend of a friend in Aberdeen. My friend reached out and asked for me to add him to our church prayer list. He was in a horrific car accident yesterday and is touch and go. Has a wife and 3 children, is a pastor and a pilot. My friend is asking for prayers for a miraculous recovery.
