We Praise and Thank You in All things. Amen.
This weeks schedule for Mikes treatments has been changed to Wed 4/21 . Arriving at 6:20am and will last til 4:30pm . All day process.
Last week the experimental dose of the drug was 1 mg dripped over 3hrs and then was monitored over the next 4hrs by taking his vitals every 15 min, during the drip. Every 1/2 hour during the 4hr observation. Vials of blood taken every 2hrs during the observation' and then a final blood taken at the end of the 4hr observation. EKGs done before drip, end of drip and end of observation.
The cancer is now progressing in his lungs and fluid from them needed to be removed Monday prior to the treatment and also Friday after the treatment. He continues to remain extremely weak. Relief to help his breathing seems to be shorter now than before.
The dose this week is to be increased to 3mg over 1hr drip, and then observed for 6hrs . This is what they will continue with for the next two weeks if He can tolerate it.
Discussions this week with Oncologists, Trial sponsors, and Pulmonary specialists to begin as well , to
determine if his prognosis at this point warrants the insertion of a drainage tube into his pleural cavity, to allow us to release the chronic fluid buildup from home instead of at Mayo .
We are at Mayo almost every day now , for Swallowing therapy, pain management, Eyes must be checked every other day now that on experimental drug, to r/o any changes in his vision. If so....possible blood clots forming.
I am trying to only Ask off for the days of actual Treatments with this new drug, that has never been given to a human before.
We are prayerful and trusting in the Lord no matter what. Praying for this to be the miracle drug we have been hoping for, but also realizing it could expedite his Homecoming to our Lord and Savior in Heaven.

SCC Prayer Warriors,
Please lift Brother Hugh up in prayer as he was rushed to Baptist South last night by ambulance. I spoke with him this morning and he was admitted due to dehydration and and a bowel blockage. He is in good spirits though his voice was weak. Father God, I pray for your Mercy and Grace to be poured over your servant, your child, Hugh McNair, who has loved you and served you with all his heart and soul, in the name of Christ Jesus.
His bride, Verde, remains in the skilled nursing facility in Orange Park and is doing as well as can be anticipated due to the bone break earlier this year and the subsequent stroke. She is alert and participating in therapy. My prayer is that she remain free of pain and worry and that Hugh is able to return to visiting her as that is the greatest therapy of all.

My Grandfather, Raymond Walter, had surgery about 2 years ago for a cancerous spot on top of his head. He went through treatment to shrink the mass and then went in for a surgery to have it removed. Along with that they took a skin graft from his leg to cover the affected area.
I got word from my parents this evening that the cancer has returned. He is getting multiple surgeons opinions for the next steps now.
He is in his 90s now and any surgery is a risk.
My grandmother has what we presume to have dementia, so this would be difficult to her way of life if we were to lose him for he does his best to take care of her.
Please pray for God to do his will through this tough time for them and my family. Please pray for the doctor’s that are reviewing his case and their decisions to either go through with surgery or other treatments.

Here is a quick update on Mike:
What a long day! We arrived at 6:00am and left at 5:45pm 12 hrs. Phew!
Took blood all day . Chemo drip was very slow over a period of 3hrs. Vitals were taken every 15 minutes during the drip. Then every half hour over 4hrs for observation. Total of 21 vials of blood drawn through out the day, up until right before we left.
Mike did very well. No reactions thus far. Just very weak! Good to be home.
We go back tomorrow for follow up , vital signs , EKG checks ,more bloodwork, then again Friday. To monitor him at home as well keeping notebook daily . He belongs to Mayo now for the next 3mos.
Next week repeat on Monday’s for 3 weeks. Depending on how he continues to do , then Phase 2 with increased dose , etc. for 4 weeks, and then Phase 3 , etc as long as all goes well . Each phase the dose is increased, monitored , and follow ups .
So....Our/ Mike’s journey continues !

Please pray for our dear friend Sherri McElfresh. She is also a mutual friend of Gary Corbitt. Sherri is being admitted today to the Mayo Clinic for Chemo and Stem Cell Therapy to treat Blood and Bone Marrow Cancer. She has amazing courage, strong faith, and a large support group.
God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, or sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. Let our prayers help be part of the light for Sherri during this time!
Thank you, Evan & Karina Gundersen

Please pray for me as I go to a spine specialist, April 7th, to receive an injection for lower back pain. I have had neck and lower back issues for years. For a year now, I have been unable to sit comfortably for an extended period. My neck issues have flared up as well. Please pray for wisdom as to further treatments. I have tried several things and I really need some relief.
Thank you so much for lifting me up in prayer. Our Great Physician is listening!

Mike did not start the Trial Chemo MondayBetween the Sponsors and Mayo Clinic there were some changes made and scheduling issues.
The new Start date is now Tues. 4/13 @ 6:00 am . It will be an all day process.
Mike continues to struggle with fatigue, fluid buildup in his neck, throat and face as well as new swallowing problems. Due to old Radiation treatments. The gift that keeps on giving.
He begins twice a week Tuesday’s and Thursday’s with a throat/swallowing therapist for the next 6 weeks starting Today.
Tumors are continuing to spread in upper chest region, in his bloodstream and lymph nodes. His left underarm area, shoulder, forearm have been increasingly painful now to the point there is no relief. Sleeping is fitful and a true gift/blessing when it comes for longer periods.
My heart is breaking for him. He continues to push on , every minute of every day!
Please God , let this New Drug be the miracle we have been praying for. If it is YOUR Will , In Jesus Christ Holy Name. Amen!

Please pray for Ken, a friend of Sheila Renna's mom, who recently had a stroke. He is angry with his loss of function on his right side, and the prayer is that he comes to a place of acceptance and willingness to work with the therapists and doctors to improve his quality of life, and that he accepts the loving care that his wife is trying to give to him. Thanks.
